The current setup of the new computer was supposed to be so that my parents could move their antique vinyl selections from record to CD. I have tried to explain to them that most of the songs they have in their library have already been ripped. This does not appear to be good enough for them and they are set upon the gargantuan task of stripping the actual turning machine of it's audio.
I cannot stop them for pursuing their goal, because it is really nice to have this really fast computer to do all this blogging and stuff, but I think it is going to take a lot of measured time and patience for them to get this thing off the ground. First they need a stable receiver that isn't 25+ years old with dirty contacts.
Second they need to identify what the most important tracks are that they want to keep. They have a huge collection of records anywhere from original beatles to an encyclopedia of classical music. It's going to take a good long time just to convert that stuff.
Anyway, they are set upon trying it and I wish them the best of luck.
Chris
